Pray Bold Prayers

Today’s blog is in honor of Dodie Osteen. What a true woman of God she was. I only had the privilege of meeting her but have many friends who knew her well. She is remembered for her bold prayers, her love for people, her personal phone calls to pray with people who needed a miracle, recounts of visits with thousands to pray for their healing, her love for her husband and family, and the legacy she left in her children, grandchildren, and church family.

When I think of Ms. Dodie, I think of her book that’s kept in sight in my home. I’ve read it over and over for years, any time my faith needs to be encouraged regarding my health. I think of how she must have been so proud of her children and all they have and are accomplishing, reaching people with the gospel. I think of how inspiring she has been to so many of us to believe God in the face of impossibilities. I think of how much her children love and honor her. I think of the untold millions who have been reached much due to her love, support, and prayers for her husband and children.

Let’s let her life inspire us to be kind, faithful, and filled with faith-filled, bold prayers for ourselves and for others. I pray God helps me leave a legacy beyond my wildest dreams like she did. That’s a bold prayer but isn’t that how she did it? What do you say? Let’s pray bold prayers and live out our lives in a way that is a testimony to many that we actually trust God, believe His Word, and love people like we claim to.

One of the most beautiful things that encourages me so much is that is seems her life was one of simple but not always easy obedience to God and His calling for her life. Any of us can do that. Let’s stop complicating things and simply obey God in the little things and watch Him do great and mighty things through our bold prayers.

I think if we choose to let her life impact us and follow in her example, we will live out many more decades filled with happy Mondays knowing we are in God’s will. Our lives are not our own and it seems that the people I know who really understand this are the happiest, most fulfilled people I know.

What bold prayer will you pray today in honor of Ms. Dodie? I am grateful for the prayers she prayed over me once and I purpose to be good ground she sowed prayer into. I’ll be praying bold prayers for you today in honor of her.

XO,

Adrienne Cooley
