“I’m thanking God, who makes things right. I’m singing the fame of heaven-high GOD.”
Psalm 7:17 MSG
If I were guessing, there is probably something not “right” in your life. There are few things not right in mine.
I know I am supposed to have it all together but those who know me, know that I don’t. Some who know me like to even point out exactly what those things are.
Of course people we are close to and “for us” are more than welcome to speak into our lives if we know what’s good for us. And to those that we know have our best interest in mind, we would do well to invite their input.
As for others who just have a critical spirit and make fun of everyone who walks in and out of a room and think they were placed on this earth with a “discernment” to judge everyone’s motives but their own have no voice in my life. I hope they don’t in yours. For some of us THAT is what’s not right in our lives. Most of us have been wrongfully misrepresented, judged, or treated. Some more than others. But good news, we can thank God by faith that He WILL make it right.
“No weapon that is formed against you shall prosper;
And every tongue that accuses you in judgment you will condemn.
This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD,
And their vindication is from Me,” declares the LORD.
Isaiah 54:17 New American Standard 1977
Many of us have had someone in our lives at one point or another fighting for their next breath. In those scary moments we are left to realize the above mentioned issues pale in comparison. When we find ourselves in these predicaments, everything seems to stop spinning and we take a good look at what’s important. The opportunity to do just that is one thing to be thankful for even in the midst of the worst of storms that appear to surely be hopeless. Also on these kinds of days, we often FINALLY look upward, realizing our help comes from The Lord. We are at the end of our control, at the bottom of our strength and left with only His might to save us or our loved one. It is then that we cry out and thank God for it is He that makes things right. I hope in the bleakest of times you cry out in song of the “fame of heaven-high God” as the verse says above with boldness and courage.
He is so faithful to answer us when we do. He is the God who sees ahead and provides everything – every person, resource, or just favor along the way.
And of course then there are days when people are not running our name through the mud and nothing is particularly life threatening but maybe there are Mount Everest-sized financial stresses or marriage roller coasters that seem to be derailing with the crash just ahead. Maybe chronic illness with no end in sight. Maybe depression for none of these “good reasons” so for that you just feel even more like a loser and a useless excuse for a human.
Or there are just the every day not-so-big-deal problems we all face and become wearied over. However small or large our situations are, let’s remember to let this describe what we choose to do…
“I’m thanking God, who makes things right. I’m singing the fame of heaven-high GOD.”
Psalm 7:17 MSG
With this mindset, we are sure to have both a Happy Monday and a Happy Thanksgiving! Whatever we are facing, we can have a victory mindset, an eternal mindset, and therefore a happy mindset.
