Hey, a big shout out to you girls in Dothan! What a great weekend we had together 🎉🙌😍
Psychologists tell us that we either have a fixed mindset or a growth mindset.
A fixed mindset says “I came from a poor family so I’m destined to be poor.” Or “My family was dysfunctional so I’m dysfunctional.”
A growrh mindset says “I may have come from a broken home but my marriage can be strong.” Or “My parents may have struggled with health problems but I am going to choose a healthy lifestyle and do my part to be healthy.” (Plus we Christians have the added benefit of faith and prayer!)
When I saw this a few days ago thumbing back through my book Happy ANYWAY I immediately thought of this scripture…..
“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”
Romans 12:2 NKJV

So really, a fixed mindset is basically one that is being conformed to this world. And a growth mindset can only really come from being transformed by the renewing of the mind from God’s word to prove the good, acceptable, and perfect will of God in our lives! We know God wants us to grow and not be stuck in our mindsets due to what we have been through. So part of walking in His perfect will for our lives is getting unstuck in our mindsets and beginning to see ourselves free from things that have held us back before realizing the truth of His word sets us free! Free from all the things that make us feel stuck or that we have to have this fixed mindset. (There is more about this in chapter 6 of Happy ANYWAY if you want to dig into this more. Enjoy!)
What are some areas in your mind in which you have limited yourself? Go and grow beyond those things and be not conformed to those things but be transformed into all God has called you to be!
A growth mindset is a happy mindset!
Happy Monday!
