Don’t pet the pouter!

…even when the pouter is you. 😳

Have you ever known someone who tried to get you to feel sorry for them? Of course you have. We all have. Have you ever been that person? Of course you have. We all have.  🙃🙃🙃

Yeaterday my husband did an amazing job preaching about walking in love and how doubt despairs, complains, & is sad 😢 but faith rejoices, expects, and is glad! 😎

We cannot be both in faith and feel sorry for ourselves at the same time. Faith is focused on what God has done or can and will do inspite of our situation. 👍 Self pity is focused on what “someone should have done for ME”. 👎 Pouting is an active expression of doubt that proclaims that someone else controls our emotions and our situation. Faith realizes God controls our situation and is able and willing to do the impossible in order to remedy our problems if we trust Him! 🙏🔥

When we pet a pouter we empower  doubt, strife, and chaos to spread and flourish. Never ever ever feel sorry for yourself ‼️And never ever ever pet a pouter ‼️

Let’s think for a minute about the last time we felt sorry for ourselves and where that got us. Or the last time someone tried to get us to feel sorry for them. 🧐 The “pouter” becomes the victim and the “petter” becomes the rescuer. The person who may or may not have done wrong becomes the “bad guy”. Alcoholics Anonymous calls this Triangulation. 🔼🔼🔼

“So Ahab went into his house sullen and displeased

{{AKA POUTING }}

because of the word which Naboth the Jezreelite had spoken to him; for he had said, “I will not give you the inheritance of my fathers.” And he lay down on his bed, and turned away his face, and would eat no food.”

‭‭I Kings‬ ‭21:4‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

So next what happened… Jezebel pet his pouting saying – What’s wrong with you, Baby? Did someone not give you what you wanted? I’ll get it for you.

Victim – Rescuer – Bad Guy

Triangulation

In the above case, the result was MURDER! 💀 In most of our cases it results in relational ruin and wreckage. 😭😭😭 Don’t pet the pouter!!! The end of it is hate. Love wins! ❤️❤️❤️ Sometimes that looks like leaving a toxic conversation. Stop tolerating pouting around you or from you. Next time you are around a pouter or are the pouter choose faith instead and before long you will be rejoicing, expecting the best of people, and will be glad! 💃

  1. Malc Burton says:

    This is an absolutely wonderful application of truth, Pastor Adrienne. I wish I could reclaim the hours I spent in self-enforced exile a.k.a. pouting. It is such a foolish thing to do. The person whose presence you have exited is usually secretly relieved, and the one being punished is actually you, the pouter, out there alone in the dark.

    Thanks again for the good work!
