God has put on our hearts that this year is The Year of the Open Door. When we think of this, there are so many things it makes you think of…

You may think of a new opportunity or walking through the open door of new home. Perhaps what comes to mind for you is an open door in a relationship that will be of benefit to you in some way. What open door in 2024 are you believing God for?

All of these things are great and defintley part of the implication of this idea but there is one door you can walk through that is the very best door. The very best door to walk through is the door of the presence of God. The Bible tells us Jesus in the door in John 10:7. That passage even says any others who try and make it sound like their wisdom is the better way or “the door” to walk through are thieves or robbers.

We were talking the other day about Deconstruction and how so many believers have “deconstructed” their faith. Many, the bible tells us, will become deceived in these last days, even the very elect. This convo made me think of someone who had been a devout leader in the church say, “We are reconsidering everything we have believed and we are now changing many of our core beliefs.” That person has since fallen away from the Lord, no longer in church like they once were, and is living a life that is not what it once was in so many ways. Broken relationships. Broken dreams.

Then I thought of several others whom I love dearly who have done the same thing. These people have in essence, walked through other doors. They have sided in with unsound doctrine in some cases. In other cases, they have exalted worldly wisdom to a higher priority in their minds over the wisdom of God. The spirit of this world sounds nicer, better, and less confrontational, less work, and easier. The problem with this is that it is a trap. There is a way that seems good to man but it leads to destruction, Scriputre tells us. I’ve seen people mosey through this door having no idea where they are headed. It looks good, even amazing. It’s a slow fade and then one day they wake and wonder how they got into the pit they find themselves in.

Nooooooooo, in the name of Jesus, if you are reading this blog and feel convicted that walked through the wrong door, I pray you will turn around. Do a 180 and walk back through that door of the world that so closely resembled God but wasn’t Him. It indeed IS wisdom you may be walking in but it’s not godly wisdom. It’s not the best door. The enemy comes as an angel of light to confuse us and leave us for dead. He lures us through this door that sounds good but is not God. It is wisdom but it’s the world’s wisdom of Empire thinking instead of Kingdom thinking. There are subtle differences with devastatingly different outcomes.

Evaluate your life. Humble yourself. Return to your first love, Jesus.

Walk through the best door, not just any door. And maybe you have walked through the door of Jesus but there are just some small ways this applies to you. I pray you will listen to God in this and let Him show you His ways which are higher than ours even in small things that could unlock big opportunities for you.
