I told you last week I was going to do a Cowgirl Up blog series leading into Happy Girl 25 and then today has slipped by and I failed to Cowgirl Up until now soooooo…
I decided to share with you what to do when you don’t Cowgirl Up and you wish you would have or maybe you finally did but kinda too late (like this blog):
You Cowgirl Up next time and you learn from your mistake. That’s all you can do. Like I’ve said many times before, excuses are just reasons for failure stuffed with a lie so the best thing to do is what I am doing in this blog- own it, apologize, and move on.
If you are perfect, you are welcomed to throw a stone. But for those of you who aren’t perfect, maybe this is refreshing to know you are not alone. Life happens and things don’t always work out the way we wanted them to or even how they were “supposed to”. When that happens, sort of like today for me with getting this blog out, you just do your best and pray for God to do the rest. What good did beating yourself up over it ever do?
What is something you have let slip that was really not good? Where are you missing the mark? Who are you being snarky with that God is leading you to have more grace with? Who is doing you wrong and you are repaying evil for evil instead of good for evil? In what area do you feel like you don’t measure up? In what way can you relate to me in not hitting a deadline like I neglected to do with this Happy Monday blog that you will get in the wee hours of Tuesday morning? How dare I? LOL Seriously, trust me, I’ve made far bigger mistakes and so have you if I had to guess.
One thing I remember about growing up on a farm and being raised to Cowgirl Up is that you win some and you lose some. You may try and rope a cow and miss. Well, you pick up your rope and try again until ya get it. I remember herding cows from one pasture to another once with my Dad and a cow would try to not cooperate and so I would have to adjust on the fly and get that cow back in line. I remember one time, I did what Dad taught me never to do…run my horse to the barn. Well, I did it anyway and that pony rubbed me off up against the side of the barn into barbed wire fence and I still have a scar on my face to this day because of it. I messed up. It cost an ER visit, stitches, and a scar on my face for life!
So what do you do after such a blunder? You Cowgirl Up next time and get it right next time. And you also learn from your error and don’t repeat it. You don’t quit riding and become scared of horses.
You get bucked off and I have a few times. You get back up and show that horse who’s boss. If you feel like you’ve been bucked off, get up, dust yourself off, and get back on that project, that job, or that goal and hold on for the ride of your life!
You can say, “Well, this is embarrassing!” and back off, retreat, give up, or you can say, “Well, this is embarrassing!” and swallow your pride, take a big bite of humble pie like I did in writing this blog and pray God can take your mess and turn it into your message to be a blessing to someone.
Happy Monday ANYWAY…even though it’s Tuesday! Sorry bout that! Please forgive me and I hope this helps someone give yourself a lil grace and decide to get back in the saddle and go for it!
PS….Happy Hack: Don’t take yourself so seriously! Who cares. Don’t look back! There’s no future in it! Just Cowgirl Up next time and determine to have the ride of your life!
