” …speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord; ” (Ephesians 5:19 NASB)
This is so funny and sort of unbelievable. As a child my favorite songs were called “It’s a Happy Day” and “Happy In The Lord”. Still to this day, I just love to sing them when no one is around. There is no way to be sad and sing those fun songs at the same time.
Ya see, my 6th grade teacher lied to me and told me I had real potential with singing. Ever since then, I have tried and tried to sing. In the shower, in the car, in church for years. I have made melody in my heart to the Lord. Well, it’s melody as far as I know.
I never turned out to be the singer I had hoped to be. Our worship leader will not let me on the platform even though I keep telling him, “I’ve got the moves. It’s just the voice.” His reply is always,”Well, that’s pretty important.” That’s just another opportunity for me to say,”Oh well, happy anyway.”
Even though I can’t sing on a platform, I sing with all my heart in my car and at home. I hope you do, too. The Bible tells us to. Open up your heart and sing spiritual songs to the Lord. The next verse or so talks about being thankful and when we sing praises of thanks, it just lifts our spirits. There is something about music that makes us happy. God knew that! Don’t you think that’s part of why He told us to do it? He knew it would bring us joy. So sing a happy song every chance you get today and have the happiest Monday you’ve had in a while.
Remind me of the video 😉
