Really, it’s all good? Is it all good? If we are being totally honest… is it ALLL good? Well, yea, overall. Every detail? Probably not but I got to thinking about this phrase and about people who have this persona. I grew up valuing “real” a little too much. Yea, yea, “keep it real”, “the real deal”, “the real and the raw”. I’ve said it so many times, “The only way I know how to be is real.”
That’s great and I do value authenticity even though that word makes my skin crawl a little bit because of how overused it is. But, in my case, probably not yours, but just in case you can relate to this: “being real” has been code for being subpar, not feeling like I measure up (and to who?! – the more you learn, the more you realize NOBODY’S got it together as much as they go to great lengths to make it seem like they do. So, let’s get real, for real, real for a minute. Is our over-obsession with “real” a desire for a break from giving it our best because it just feels impossible to keep up no matter how we try? Or for some, it is an excuse to be loose lipped, inconsiderate, or undisciplined?
It’s hard to tell in this AI world what is real anymore. It’s so easy in our modern lifestyles to hide behind designer brands, smiles on social media, and even our best behaviour on trips or days as we visit with friends and family and can manage to lay it on thick for a few hours or days at a time. But what about when the lights go down, when the camera is off, when it’s just you alone looking in the mirror? How are you then frfr?
Are you mad, sad, confused, exhausted, at the end of your rope? Are you at peace, genuinely as joyful as your IG wall looks, content, and ready for your next assignment from God? Are you full and overflowing kindness, patience, and love on everyone around? Or are you spewing judgement, condemnation, and expectations out onto everyone around you, you can’t even live up to either? Are you fakin it til ya make it, eaten up with imposter syndrome or are you living out your best life with truth and leaving comparison in the past?
Is it all good? If not, are you getting the help you need or just pretending and hoping to not run out of steam before they find out the truth about you? Is it all good or are you focused on the details of imperfection in life that we all deal with in one way or another that you can’t see in plain sight how good it really is? What if it is all (or at least for the most part) all-ish good?
In my experience, even when my world was temporarily falling to pieces, my life seemed in shambles, or maybe I just had a slight hormonal moment lol **Not always easy to tell the difference. Soooooo, idea: What would happen if…….how cool could it be if…… what do you say if…..we commit to each other right here today in the middle of this Happy Monday to let it be just that, a Happy Monday ANYWAY? What if we chose to trust God in the middle of all of our not so all-good-ness and chose to call those things that be not (good) as though they were (good)? Sound like a verse you may have heard before? What if this and that, they and them, me and you were by faith all good? What if we could stop fakin it and start faithin’ it?
What if making this tiny tweak in our mindsets found in this one blog could turn our worlds upside right? It could. How? Faith works by love, being convinced of God’s love for us that never fails. What if we believed God sees ahead and provides? What if we trusted God to work it out one way or another and stop trying to tell Him how it needs to work out. What if His ways were higher and we came into alignment with His Word that promises us of that?
Here’s what…It’s all good. We could legitimately say this and it be true. I’m in. Are you?
Happy Monday!
