Faith & Hope, Success

True Riches

My husband and I are declaring that this year will be marked by true riches for us. Why don’t you, too?!

“So if you have not been trustworthy in handling worldly wealth, who will trust you with true riches?”

Luke 16:11 NIV

As I pondered this, I had a thought…”I am not sure if I could be more successful than I currently am.” Let me clarify: It depends on how you define success. My definition of success has drastically changed in this last year as I have realized just how rich I am. I am still doing everything I can to grow and be the best version of who God has called me to be. But I have realized, I value peace, family, friends, my church, and a few fun things I enjoy.

There are certainly people with bigger lives- fancier clothes, cooler emblems on their cars, bank accounts with many more zeros on the left side of the decimal, and houses that can fit 10 of mine inside. And all that is awesome. I like zeros, emblems, and designer bags. I even have a few zeros in the right place, a little bit of fun designer stuff, and I love my bucking bronco emblem that makes me think of my Dad every time I climb up into my new truck.

But what I have that I love way more than all of that is a marriage that is still full of passion and fun, not only “mature love” as wonderful as that is. I feel so blessed to have two young men who have chosen the absolute most beautiful, wonderful, godly young women to spend forever with and the most adorable grandson on the planet…I know, except for yours.

I am proud of both of our boys who are now young godly men. Knowing we are all living out our purpose is so satisfying. I don’t deserve the friends God has blessed me with. God has been so sweet to surround me with such greatness. We are all healthy and for that, I am so very grateful.

This is true riches – true success – the stuff money can’t buy. Kevin and I have always prayed for us to only be blessed to the degree our character can handle. We must have been trustworthy with what He has blessed us with for Him to trust us with soooooo many true riches. Be faithful in little and watch Him make you ruler over much.

As true as all of this is, and as blessed as we are, don’t mistake this blog for saying we have no problems or challenges. We do. Some big ones, hard ones, even painful ones. But still, in all things we give thanks, looking to Him, not them. That’s the secret to the abundant life full of true riches. Look to Him, not them. They, as great as they are, will let ya down. Me, as wonderful as I am, lol, will let ya down. You, as wonderful as you are, will let me down.

That’s why we have to keep our eyes on Him. Look up where your help comes from and you, too, will become over-run with true riches like we have been!

Happy Monday! Barely…Have a great week!
