Less is more

If you want to know the truth, to me, more is more most of the time. I’ve been accused of being gaudy, a little much, and “extra”. In my mind I want to be streamlined, minimalistic and a “less is more” kind of person.

You know, clean lines, all white, straight, smart, classy…in my mind I am all those things but in reality, I can be a little excessive, creative, and have a lot going on in my decorating and fashion. Guilty as charged. What to do?!

Last night I had the honor of speaking at the BSU Outreach group at the University of South Alabama. I walked into room 103 in the Student Center, greeted with warmth and genuine love from such happy college students. I have spoken to thousands in a room and to dozens. This was a small crowd, less people, but more love than you can imagine. There was such comradery among this group. It stood out to me even as I shared with them. The whole time was more like a conversation. There was such engagement and the time shared together left me feeling like I had just spent time with life-long friends.

I’ve on the other hand spoken at conferences filled with an impressive crowd, lights, cameras, and lots more action yet left without having had real connection.

Last night, I know that I know the Word went deep into their hearts. They grabbed hold of it. They were hungry for it. Though the crowd was less, the hunger was more. The room may have been smaller than the convention center, but the connection was massive.

I’m super thankful for all sizes of crowds to get to speak to and any chance I get to spread the happy and share the love of Christ to one or one thousand or more, I’m all in!

But this experience last night was such a sweet reminder of what a difference Jesus and 12 disciples made on this earth! I believe this group I got to share my evening with last night are going places. I can hardly wait to see what that room of go-getters accomplish. There was such greatness in that room.

The point of this little note you are reading is to remind you that even when it seems like what you are doing is small, never underestimate what may seem like “less than” to you. Less really is more sometimes. Jesus and the 12 disciples are a perfect example. They accomplished so much. When we lock arms with even just a few, oh what great feats for His glory we can accomplish. When we put our “less” into His mighty hands, He can multiply it into “more” and bless many!

What is something small you are being faithful in? He will make it into much, Scripture says. Be faithful and enjoy what God has you doing whether it’s a lot or a little and trust Him to bless whatever you put your hand to like He promises!

Happy Monday!
