This was a question asked at Happy Girl Conference and we weren’t able to get to it. We will talk about this today and address the other questions over the next several Happy Monday Blogs, on LIVES, and social media posts so be watching and your question will get answered!

This is such a good question so let’s tackle it….

When your kids go to college, first of all, this is such a huge change and one of the biggest transitions in life so first, know, your feelings are valid.

If feels like loss, yet it is actually a happy time for your child as they launch into adulthood. So it’s important we as parents selflessly make it all about them and not us because it can be a scary time for our kids facing new things and beginning to be out in this big world for the first time. One thing I have found is that our grown children need our prayers more than ever and it’s sometimes a great way for us to feel a real connection to them when we are now separated by the miles. Your role as a praying mom changes and becomes your number one purpose.

After that, it’s time to ask God what His next step for you is. Here are a few questions that may help you find purpose in this next season:

1- Is there something you always wish you could have done or something you have been postponing for one day….?

2- What is a wrong you always wanted to help make right? A cause you feel called to champion? Be about it!

3- What do you dream of being or who you dream of knowing more or places you have wanted to go?

4- Do you serve in your local church? If not, this is a great time to increase your serving in your local church. The local church is the hope of the world and there is no better purpose than giving hope! Share your talents with your church and you will find so much purpose and fulfillment in being a vital part of a life giving church!

Warning: Don’t get so busy that you forget your adult kids need you maybe now more than ever!!! And stay available to them without smothering them. It’s a new season but you’re still needed even by them! You’re still Mama!!!

Enjoy the ride! Focus on the memories and the future memories you will make!! Choose to Believe ANYWAY, whatever the bumps that come, and you and they will THRIVE!
